Szcznesy outwits a goldfish, apologies to goldfish - 15/12/2010

Morning all!

Bright new day - well actually its an overcast London day but hey... - and let's put the misery of Monday night behind us and concentrate on the future.

Well well well, Szcznesy is claiming he outwitted Rooney on the penalty.
"It's obviously a mental battle between the goalkeeper and the striker, a psychological battle, so I tried him and stand off my line for as long as possible, until the referee put me on the line. Then I made myself big and he missed."
Well done Wojcieh, you've outwitted a man who struggles to beat goldfish at Connect4, to quote Frankie Boyle "If you put a bullet in Rooney's head, all that would happen is that he'd whistle when he ran". Not to take anything away from him though, Szcznesy had a very good game against Manure. He may be trying to play it down somewhat but I still maintain its worth giving the youngster a run of games, but like I said yesterday, Arsene doesn't hesitate to put young players into the first team if he thinks their ready (look at Wilshere's rise this season) so let's give the young Pole a go.

In the papers both Lee Dixon and Ian Wright have come out saying that this current Arsenal team are not good enough to win the title. Both are coming out with the usual lines which ALL of us worry about. Lack of heart and determination. Lack of a winning mentality. We all expect so much of our club. We were spoiled in the recent past with the 'Invincibles' who didn't lose a game all season. But this team isn't them. That in itself is not a bad thing! They need to become and develop into their own team and we have to have faith in them. It's only halfway through the season and we're still very much in contention with every chance to come out with more than one piece of silverware.

I do agree that certain players need to be looked at and their places in the team considered. Rosicky shouldn't have been starting for one, personally I can't work out why Nasri wasn't playing behind Chamakh, he's done so well there over the past few games why station him out on the wing? Clichy needs to have a kick up the arse as well, he's never developed to the level Ashley [spit] Cole has. What is even more of a worry is Gibbs' propensity for injuries means we struggle to have a decent level of competition at leftback. Arsene might say that there will be no transfer movement in January but a new leftback would really be a target if any of the rest of us were managing.

On a different note, word is Big Stan Kroenke is looking at investing a large-scale Arsenal training ground in the States. America has a massive population base and most American youngsters now are playing football (soccer.... sigh, THAT'S something we'll have to train American players about as well....) at junior level. The problem is that as they hit high-school and college they then drop soccer (f*ck, now I'M doing it...) for more traditional American sports. Kroenke's looking at a large scale investment allegedly, I'd love it if the Arsenal could become the biggest team in the States. Forget about the potential of players for a second but the increase in our revenues would be lovely. Maybe we'd be able to buy someone else apart from French children.

[LEOTARD ALERT] Right having watched the various interpretive dance routines of several footballing agents the papers (those of you who are puzzled by the leotard reference look at my post from Monday 13th) have another raft of transfers rumours. Remember though, these rumours might also just be mis-interpretations of the "I'm a tree" school of dancing.

Sport.co.uk are reporting us and Sp*rs are looking at Stuttgart defender Serdar Tasci. Tall, strong but not blond, not quite the Aryan superman but he'd do to help shore up the backline. I'm a big fan of players with Bundesliga players, the pace and physicality of German football is not quite up there with the Premiership but it gives players a far better pre-schooling for it than any of the other European leagues.

Some fresh bullshit for a change. Karim Benzema! Rumour has it Jose wants Clichy with a possible swap-deal for Benzema. Maurice the cow is looking particularly pleased with himself over the size of this particular piece of bullshit. It's steaming, it's big and most possible his first dump of the day. On the other hand though I wouldn't mind this going through only  because whenever I hear a commenter cry out 'Benzema' a little piece of me starting singing "who got the keys to my Bimmer?" (puzzled looks all round from non-Rap fans there...)

On a final note rumours in various papers are suggesting Tevez's friends, niece's, second-cousins, roommates ex's, best friend has told them Tevez may be interested in a move to London. Christ I hope they don't mean us. It took us YEARS to get rid of our last sulking five year old in Adebayor. What the f*ck do we want with another one????

Well we'll call it a day here, Maurice the cow looks fully expended and asking him to produce anymore would be a strain of his digestive system. Til tomorrow peeps!

The Afterthought.
